Classic Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground meat
  • 3 tbsp. Pecorino Romano, grated
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbs. chopped fresh parsley
  • tomato sauce
  • salt
  • pepper

Meatballs are the obvious and classic pairing to spaghetti with marinara sauce. Traditionally these would be cooked directly in the sauce when making spaghetti with marinara sauce which result’s in the most ubiquitous of all American-Italian dishes. Make sure you don’t overwork the meat and don’t be afraid to season aggressively.

Method

  1. Mix until well incorporated, but do not over mix
  2. Roll into balls
  3. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes
  4. Add to sauce and simmer for an additional hour
